I hear time and time again that cabin owners are just rich people who can afford to pay the taxes. So far I have met very few that fit this description, and the Seasonal Owner demopgraphic study MSRPO did in 2005 definately contradicts this attitude.
How about you? Are you a rich cabin owner who can “afford the taxes.” Does it ranikle you that you cannot vote in local elections, despite big investments of money, time, and emotional attachments into the community where your seasonal property is located?

Even though the value of my home in the city has gone down this year, the small lake cabin and frontage went up a taxable market value of $62,000. I am thinking about switching the homestead from my city home to my lake home. Any thoughts on the advantages and disadvantages?
